Reasons to Consult with a Pharmacist
Has consulting with a pharmacist ever crossed your mind? You must have wondered about the need of talking to a pharmacist since we also have to consult with our medical practitioners, right? Are there any differences or similarities? Your pharmacist is part of YOUR healthcare team, especially if you are recovering from an illness, are taking lifetime medications, and/or want to take a wellness approach to your healthcare.
Many pharmacists, as Dr. Deborah, have their Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy. They often continue their education to include specialty areas such as; weight loss, genetics, cardiovascular issues, motivational interviewing, wellness associated with nutrition and supplements, prescription nutrient depletion, diabetes, and diabetes prevention.
Many pharmacists enjoy problem solving and getting down to the root cause of issues. This requires one-on-one time with the pharmacist to establish the wants and needs of the patient. At the end of the day, pharmacy consultation is NOT redundant information. Instead, it is a supplemental to reinforce what your doctor said or give you more information on the topics you find important in order to have a successful plan for your healthcare.
Consultations with fees are payable when the appointment is made, and are generally non-refundable for no-shows and late cancellations. Rescheduling is allowed up to 24 hours in advance. Alternately, you can call to schedule an appointment at (803) 628-7934. Most consultations are by virtual means. Please put in the comment section of your appointment if you would like it to be in person in the pharmacy.
